“The one constant through all the years, Ray, has been baseball. America has rolled by like an army of steamrollers. It’s been erased like a blackboard, rebuilt, and erased again. But baseball has marked the time. This field, this game, is a part of our past, Ray. It reminds us of all that once was good, and that could be again. Oh people will come, Ray. People will definitely come.” -Terrence Mann, “Field of Dreams.”
I recently completed an internship for MLive.com, covering Lansing area high school football for the 2012 season. Prior to my time with MLive I completed an internship with The Oakland Press in Pontiac, Mich. During my junior year at Michigan State I worked for The State News, covering events across campus and the city of East Lansing. I am also a fan blogger on the Detroit Tigers for The Oakland Press during the summer.
As a student at Michigan State University and a member of The State News I have had the opportunity to cover a wide variety of events, from sporting events to on-campus organizations and groups while gaining video and editing skills.
During my time at MLive.com I gained the skills needed to cover weekly preview articles, as well as establish a pseudo-beat, in covering the same high schools multiple times throughout the season. MLive also allowed me the ability to shoot photos to accompany my articles as well as run online chats during several playoff football games.
